IF THERE’S ONE thing we’ve learned from First Dates, it’s that you should never ask somebody if they’ve had work done. Remember what happened to Phil from Tallafornia?
However, a tree surgeon named Tom obviously didn’t brush up on First Dates Ireland before he headed onto the British version of the show.

Tom told First Dates that he was looking for a tall girl, with long dark hair, a nice tan and a sweet demeanour. He was paired with a dental nurse named Jade, who pretty much fit the bill.

Things got off to a good start, with the pair of them flirting back and forth.
However, Tom got a little bit put off after Jade revealed that she had spent £12,000 on plastic surgery over the course of her life.
I used to get picked on in school, for the way I looked.
She showed Tom a photo of what she looked like when she was younger:

I used to look awful. I had a really crap time. I used to get quite a bit of stick at school for what I used to look like. I went through so many years of my childhood, I would just cry to my mum “I’m so ugly.” I used to hate myself. I think I’m still just so insecure and sensitive really.
She joked with Tom, “What would you do if I came here today and I looked like that?” He said “Well, one, you’d be underage.” Things were going well. Until, Tom finally dropped the question…
OK, so basically, I had laser eye surgery, then I had quite a lot of lip-fillers done. I used to have a bit of botox and stuff done as well, because when I laugh my top lip disappears. About a year ago, I had my boobs done as well.
The date seemed to go downhill from there.

When it came to decision time, Tom told her:
You are a stunner and you’ve got so much going for you, but… It wasn’t the fact that you were too honest about it, but the way that obviously I asked you about your lips…

Look at her face. Not impressed. He continued:
That kind of took me back a little bit. What I’m looking for, it would kind of be a bit more natural.
At the end, Jade said that she didn’t regret telling him.
At the end of the day, if I want to be with someone then I want them to love me for me and I’d rather just be myself.
Viewers on Twitter were absolutely raging.
What a prick on #firstdates rejecting a girl for being honest about plastic surgery. Bet he's the sort that calls a woman in a smoky eye 'false advertising'
Well said. Whether her looks ( she was so pretty) were why Tom didn't want to see Jade again - he was so rude to tell her that. Especially after she spoke of her past. He could have said 'I just didn't feel a spark" Very bad form. #FirstDates
